A rare 1930 Duesenberg Model J Dual Cowl “Barrelside” Phaeton arriving at Cars & Coffee at Singleton Classics. This car, chassis no. 2323 (engine no. J-318), is one of seven Duesenbergs with “Barrelside” Phaeton coachwork by LeBaron, the only one of which was built on a long-wheelbase chassis. It has won numerous awards including AACA National first prizes, the ACD Annual Meet Mayor’s Award, and a perfect score at the CCCA Grand Classic. The car, which retains its original chassis, coachwork, and engine, was sold in 2023 for $2,975,000 at the Gooding & Co. Pebble Beach auction during Monterey Car Week and was displayed at the 2024 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

Duesenbergs were pretty much the pinnacle of American luxury cars and were rightfully thought of as America's Rolls-Royce. Just take a look at this car and it's not hard to understand why. After nearly a century it still stands as a symbol of luxury and elegance and commands no less respect than any modern luxury car. And even in an area where Duesenbergs are (as hard as it may be to believe) not particularly hard to find, this example sets itself apart with a one-off coachwork configuration and a unique two-tone color scheme that further enhances its presence.

Do you think the two-tone color scheme looks good on this Duesenberg? Leave a comment on YouTube and let me know!
