$470K Rolls-Royce Phantom VII Series II Extended Wheelbase
A 2013 Rolls-Royce Phantom VII (Series II) EWB leaving Puente Hills Business Center. Introduced in 2012, the Series II EWB (extended wheelbase), like the Series I EWB, features a wheelbase extended to 150.4 inches, with rear passenger legroom increased by 9.8 inches to a total of 53.1 inches. The 2013 Phantom EWB had a starting price (MSRP) of over $470,000.
Ever since the seventh-generation Phantom was introduced in 2003, the nameplate has been the pinnacle of the modern luxury car world. For starters, there was the "base" model priced at around $320,000. Those who wanted a little more style could opt for the Coupe or the Drophead Coupe. And if you thought all those cars were not big enough and not luxurious enough, there was the Extended Wheelbase variant. The EWB took what was already probably the world's largest and most luxurious production sedan, made it even longer, and stuffed it with even more luxury. It also took what was already one of the world's most expensive luxury cars and made it even more expensive. $470K is already lot of money today, and it was an even bigger deal a decade ago. Extended-wheelbase cars have always been relatively rare here in the States where chauffeuring isn't as common as it is in many other wealthy areas in Asia and Europe. So even in this business complex where many successful small business owners drive luxury cars, this car was an exceptionally special sight. And despite now being over a decade old, its sheer size and imposing design, all wrapped up in a classy spec, still make it an instant symbol of success and status.
