A rare Porsche 912C restomod by Hungarian builder Kamm Manufaktur starting up and driving into a transporter after Period Correct Pitstop. Based on the Porsche 912, the 912C is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 182 horsepower and is equipped with TracTive coilover suspension and valved full flow stainless steel exhaust. It is available with either a full carbon body (with a starting price of around £390,000 including donor car) or a semi carbon body (with a starting price of around £350,000 including donor car). This example, finished in black with green accents, features a semi carbon body (carbon fiber hood, fenders and doors). It is the first production Kamm 912C and was delivered to the U.S. in 2024. The car was displayed by Zweck as part of the Miami-based company's "Road to Monterey" tour.

It's funny how time can drastically alter perspectives. The Porsche 912 was meant to be the 911 for those who couldn't afford an actual 911. With limited equipment and only four cylinders, it was clearly never intended to be a star. Yet in today's world where vintage Porsches have skyrocketed in value and numerous well-established companies produce restomods with six- or even seven-figure price tags, the humble 912 is starting to be recognized as a car that, despite its limited power, provides an ideal basis for a project car thanks to its light weight and well-balanced handling.

The folks at Kamm Manufaktur have no shame in the 912's identity, retaining its original design despite rebuilding a new lightweight body and even keeping a four-cylinder engine. That engine may be the subject of much criticism, especially given this car costs significantly more than a new GT3 RS. But hey, if you don't like it, go shell out the money and get a "real" 911 instead. The 912's engine is a huge contributor to the car's unique handling characteristics. Plus, while Kamm's version doesn't exactly produce mind-blowing power figures, it certainly has enough horses to best a contemporary 911S. Love it or hate it, this car stays true to the spirit and charm of the 912. And if that's something that tugs at your heartstrings, I'm sure Kamm would love to take your order.

Do you think Kamm made the right choice in sticking with a four-cylinder engine like in the original 912, or should this restomod be powered by a flat-six instead? Leave a comment on YouTube and let me know!
