1931 Ford Model A "Purple Penguin"
A purple 1931 Ford Model A with silver fenders and yellow wheels leaving Cars and Cocktails at Auto Addiction OC. This car, dubbed "The Purple Penguin" by its owner, is a part of the Orange County Model A Ford Club.
This car certainly gets around. I had just seen it over a month ago in Glendora, and now I cross paths with it again 45 miles away in Lake Forest. With its unique color combo and catchy nickname, it simply can't be mistaken for any other Model A. One of my favorite things about seeing antique cars like this is that the owners tend to be super friendly, far more eager to put smiles on people's faces than to show off or attract attention. I enjoyed a great chat with this car's owner, who still remembered me from our previous encounter, during which another member of the club experienced mechanical problems and the entire group stayed to help and make sure he was back on the road safely. Seeing such wonderful cars, not to mention the incredible friendships, definitely put a smile on my face, and given how much these club members enjoy putting miles on their Model As, I have a feeling this is not the last I'll see of the Purple Penguin!
