A grey 1956 Lancia Aurelia B20 GT Series V leaving Cars and Coffee at Crystal Cove Shopping Center. Introduced in 1950 as a sedan (B10 Berlina), the Aurelia is powered by one of the first series-production V6 engines - A 60-degree V6 designed by Francesco De Virgilio. The Aurelia coupe (B20 GT) was introduced the following year with bodywork designed by Felice Mario Boano at Ghia and built by Pininfarina. This example is equipped with a Golde sunroof installed by coachbuilder D'Ieteren and was originally owned by Philippe de Lovinfosse, brother-in-law of four-time Le Mans-winning racing driver Olivier Gendebien.

Here in the States, Lancia is one of the lesser-known major Italian automakers. Its presence here has always been limited, and frankly its model lineup in modern times makes one wonder why it even still exists. But let's draw our attention to the brand's brighter days. The Aurelia GT was, and still is, a beautiful car. And in its time it was quite innovative, too, helping establish the popularity of the V6 engine that continues today. It's quite hard to find these cars in the wild, especially on American roads, and I'm glad the owner of this one enjoys regularly putting miles on it.
