A rare red 1966 Lola T70 Mk. II leaving the 2018 Rodeo Drive Concours d'Elegance. This car, chassis no. SL71/46, was originally built in open Mk. II configuration and was later modified with its current closed bodywork. Its 365-ci Chevrolet V8 engine has been rebuilt with displacement increased to 385 ci and power increased to 650 bhp, and it has participated in numerous classic racing events including the Wine Country Classic and the Monterey Historics.

Lola is a well-established name in the world of motorsports, but chances are you've never seen a Lola sharing the road with a Corolla. That's exactly why my favorite part of car shows is after the actual events when the display cars leave the show area, often mingling with everyday traffic while doing so. Like many competition cars of its time, this Lola features sleek bodywork that looks incredibly clean compared to today's aero-clad race machines. And you can't go wrong with the sound of a big, powerful American V8. I sure hope this isn't the last time I'll get to encounter a Lola strolling down a public road!

Would you choose to drive this rare Lola over a modern race car? Leave a comment on YouTube and let me know!
