The second-generation (S2) Elise is the car I will always think of first when talking about Lotus. It combines Colin Chapman's lightweight philosophy with a powerplant known for reliability, all wrapped up in sleek and sexy bodywork that still looks good as new today and can also be enjoyed with the top open. This car proves that you can have a fun and cool car without huge horsepower figures or a hefty price tag. The only problem is that it's so small that it's pretty much useless for any practical purposes other than carrying a petite passenger you wouldn't mind rubbing shoulders with. But as a fun, stylish, performance-focused weekend car, it certainly achieves its purpose well.
