Let's take a trip back to much simpler times. In 2015, Lamborghini's lineup consisted of two models, the V12-powered Aventador and the V10-powered Huracan. When you told someone you bought a new Lambo, it meant you got a low, sleek, mid-engined supercar, not a four-door crossover SUV. The Aventador was available as either a closed coupe or a roadster and the Huracan was only available as a coupe. (The Aventador SuperVeloce had not yet hit the streets, and the Huracan had yet to be unveiled in Spyder or RWD configurations.) The car meet scene was also much simpler; David Lee had yet to achieve celebrity status as "Ferrari Collector", and his car gatherings attracted top-quality exotic cars without dangerously large crowds, loud music, or repeated instances of revving or dangerous driving prompting neighbor complaints and police response.

Nowadays, a stock base-level Aventador or Huracan would rarely turn a head at big car events here in Southern California. But the idea of owning a Lamborghini has always been a dream for many, and honestly, both of these cars still look pretty darn good now despite having spawned far too many variants for far too long. And while some have criticized the Aventador's exhaust sound as being too mechanical, it's still quite incredible when the driver really steps on the gas. A decade ago, you could pull up to what was considered a rather prominent car event without any custom wheels, body kits, huge wings, or deafening exhausts and not feel like you're caught up in a competition to attract attention from a bunch of twelve-year-old social media addicts. After all, you're already driving a Lamborghini, and that alone should inspire more than enough confidence and happiness. Oh, how I miss those times.
