New Black 2025 Porsche 992.2 GT3 Touring
A new 2025 Porsche 911 (992.2) GT3 Touring leaving Winter Drive 2025, organized by Purist Group, at Industry Hills Expo Center. Introduced in October 2024, the 992.2-generation GT3 is powered by a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six engine producing 502 horsepower and 331 lb-ft of torque with a 9000-rpm redline. It features improved suspension and revised bodywork for improved aerodynamics and is available with several new options including a Weissach Package (called "Lightweight Package" on the Touring) and rear seats for the Touring. Both variants have a starting price (MSRP) of $224,495.
This is a car that doesn't really make sense on paper. Its powertrain is largely the same as its predecessor, but it has less torque and a lower top speed. It also looks so similar to its predecessor that even many car enthusiasts probably won't be able to tell the two apart, especially in a color known for concealing design details. Oh, and it's over $40K more expensive than the 2024 GT3 and over $60K (or nearly the price of a new Macan) more expensive than the same model in 2022. Well, most of this can be explained. The 992.1 GT3's engine was already everything enthusiasts wanted and didn't really need improvement. The reduced performance is due to having to meet new regulations, and Porsche compensated for it by altering the gear ratios. Plus, the GT3 has always been more about superb handling and driver engagement than about setting speed records. As for design, 911 styling updates have always been more or less subtle, especially within the same generation. And subtlety is key especially when it comes to the Touring. Add in the suspension improvements and various other tweaks and options, and it's clear Porsche simply recognized what buyers loved most about the GT3 and made the new car even more lovable for them. But are the improvements worth the sharp increase in price? Many Porsche owners around here are quick to trade in their cars once the latest model comes out. Only time will tell if they'll do the same for this one.
