A new white Ferrari 296 GTB arriving at and leaving the Motor4Toys Charity Car Show & Toy Drive at Los Angeles Pierce College. Introduced in June 2021, the hybrid 296 GTB has a starting price (MSRP) of over $320,000 and is powered by a 3.0-litrer twin-turbocharged V6 engine and an electric motor producing a total of 818 horsepower. This example is equipped with the optional Assetto Fiorano package, which includes a Lexan rear screen, an active rear spoiler, carbon fiber aerodynamic components, redesigned door panels, and a unique livery inspired by the 250 LM.

I've only seen a handful of 296s so far, but I have to admit they're pretty cool. With electrification an inevitable reality, this car propels Ferrari's popular rear-mid-engined lineup into the future. It's similar enough to the F8 (and its many predecessors) that most people wouldn't hold it against Ferrari for discontinuing the ever-so-successful V8-powered model line, but also different enough to justify being treated as the beginning of a new model line, with a numerical name that falls on the lower end of the three-digit spectrum that many Ferraris get their names from. If history is any indication, that means there's plenty of room for growth as future models slowly climb up that numerical ladder. And with the LaFerrari and SF90 Stradale having already proven that Ferrari has no problem building and marketing excellent hybrid supercars, I don't doubt that the 296 too will be a success.

Would you choose the hybrid 296 over an F8 Tributo? Leave a comment on YouTube and let me know!
