Rare 1928 Franklin Series 12-A Airman Convertible Sedan
A 1928 Franklin Series 12-A Airman Convertible from the Singleton Collection arriving at and leaving Cars and Coffee at Finish Line Auto Club. This car features convertible sedan coachwork by Walker based on a design by Raymond Dietrich and is believed to be the only example with this body style. It was previously part of the Harrah’s Automobile Collection and the collection of General William Lyon. A Classic Car Club of America (CCCA) Full Classic, it underwent a detailed restoration under Harrah’s ownership by Franklin expert Thomas Hubbard.
Yes, I'm that crazy guy that chose to focus on filming an old Franklin even though there were a rare Ferrari Barchetta and a Bugatti race car in front of it. I've already filmed a handful of 550 Barchettas before, and that Bugatti is a faithful recreation which I've also caught before on several occasions. But the Franklin is definitely a fresh new sight, and if you're familiar with how big the Singleton Collection is, you know it won't be easy to catch the same car out driving twice. When new, this Franklin was both luxurious and innovative. And while it may not wear a flashy paint job, it still looks incredible today - a beautiful piece of American automotive history from what I consider the golden era of American luxury cars.
