Rare 1952 Maverick Sportster

A very rare 1952 Maverick Sportster leaving the 2021 San Marino Motor Classic at Lacy Park. Promoted as the "world's largest fiberglass bodied-car", the Sportster was designed and built by engineer Sterling "Smoke" Gladwin Jr., and seven examples were built between 1952 and 1968. This green example, which has no doors, was the first Maverick produced (the original prototype and Gladwin's personal car), built on a 1940 LaSalle chassis and powered by a Cadillac V8 engine. After a complete restoration by its current owner, the car was displayed at the 2007 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance, where it on Best in Class.
