A very rare 1963 Ferrari 400 Superamerica Coupé Aerodinamico leaving the 2018 Rodeo Drive Concours d'Elegance. Introduced in 1959, the 400 Superamerica is powered by a 4.0-liter Colombo V12 engine producing 340 horsepower. This example, chassis no. 5029 SA, is one of less than 50 400 Superamericas built. A Series II (long-wheelbase) car with Coupé Aerodinamico bodywork by Pininfarina, it underwent a full restoration completed in 2001, during which it was refinished in its original factory color of Grigio Argento. The Ferrari Classiche Red Book certified car has been displayed at numerous events including the 2011 Cavallino Classic, where it won an FCA Platinum award, and the 2016 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, where it won Second in Class (Ferrari Grand Touring).

With the classic Ferrari scene typically dominated by different variants of the 250 and 275, lesser-known models like the 400 Superamerica often don't get the spotlight they deserve. And it's hard to blame anyone for this, since so few of these cars were made that many enthusiasts have never had a chance to encounter one. This Superamerica was one of four silver cars chosen for the center display at the Rodeo Drive Concours' Silver Anniversary event, and it certainly deserved the honor. As if the Ferrari badge and Colombo V12 weren't enough, it also wears beautifully sculpted streamlined bodywork with a unique and instantly recognizable rear design. It may not be a particularly well-known model, but it's sure to stand out and be a good conversation starter even among other classic Ferraris.

Would you choose this rare 400 Superamerica over a Ferrari 250 or 275? Leave a comment on YouTube and let me know!
