A rare 1966 Lamborghini 400 GT 2+2 arriving at Cars 'N Copters on the Coast at Huntington City Beach. Introduced at the 1966 Geneva Motor Show, the 400 GT 2+2 featured styling by Carrozzeria Touring and is powered by a 3.9-liter Lamborghini V12 engine producing 320 horsepower mated to a Lamborghini-designed 5-speed manual transmission. This blue example is one if 247 400 GTs (23 400 GT Interims and 224 400 GT 2+2s) built between 1966 and 1968.

The annual Cars 'N Copters event is best known for its large display of modern supercars and hypercars, and that made me even more surprised to catch this rare Italian classic on its way to the event. Lamborghinis are commonly described as sleek, edgy, and aggressive looking, but the 400 GT is one of the few models that also deserve to be labeled beautiful and elegant. Its mighty V12 engine and timeless proportions make it look and feel right at home among the great European grand tourers of its time, including the Ferrari 250 and 275. But while Ferrari continues to embrace having a grand tourer in its lineup, Lamborghini has shifted its focus entirely to SUVs and rear-mid-engined supercars. The market for front-engined grand tourers may be increasingly shrinking, but it's certainly fun to imagine what a modern-day 400 GT would be like!

Do you think Lamborghini should add a modern-day 400 GT to its current lineup? Leave a comment on YouTube and let me know!
