Rare 1967 Bizzarrini 5300 GT Strada (w/ startup)
A rare blue 1967 Bizzarrini 5300 GT Strada, one of 133 5300 GTs built, arriving at and leaving the Motor4Toys Charity Car Show & Toy Drive at Los Angeles Pierce College. Originally developed by Giotto Bizzarrini as the Iso Grifo A3/C, the car was modified by Bizzarrini and sold as the 5300 GT Strada under his own name after his partnership with Iso ended due to a dispute. It featured bodywork designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro and was powered by a Chevrolet 327 small-block V8 engine.
What do you do when you want a '60s Italian supercar but all your friends already have vintage Ferraris? Get a Bizzarrini. Yes, it's powered by a Chevy engine. But it was developed by an ex-Ferrari engineer and its appearance is unmistakably Italian. And I assume the American powertrain would actually reduce a few maintenance-related headaches, too. Each time I see a Bizzarrini, I'm blown away by just how low it is, especially by '60s standards. With so few units built, it's a rare sight at just about any event, and I'm glad this owner brought his example out for all to appreciate.
