Rare 1993 Alfa Romeo RZ Roadster Zagato
A rare 1993 Alfa Romeo RZ arriving at and leaving the 2026 San Marino Motor Classic at Lacy Park. Designed by Robert Opron and Antonio Castellana at Centro Stile Fiat and built by Zagato, the RZ (Roadster Zagato) was a convertible version of the earlier SZ (Sprint Zagato) coupe, sharing only a few body panels. Based on the Alfa Romeo 75 sedan, it is powered by a 3.0-liter Busso V6 engine producing around 210 horsepower mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. This example, finished in red with black leather interior, is one of 284 RZs built, including 32 completed after Zagato’s factory was placed into receivership.
Whether you're talking to Alfa enthusiasts in particular or car enthusiasts in general, the RZ is a car that won't be confused for any other. It applies wedge-shaped styling popular with mid-engined supercars to a more compact and upright package, with a rear end lifted up so high it's almost comical. It's not what most would call pretty, but it's definitely unique and cool - an unmistakable '90s roadster that's guaranteed to turn heads wherever it goes.
