Rare 2016 Lotus Exige S3 V6 Cup

A rare white 2016 Lotus Exige (S3) V6 Cup arriving at and leaving Wings 'N Wheels at Cable Airport. Introduced at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, the third-generation (Series 3) Exige is powered by a supercharged 3.5-liter Toyota 2GR-FE V6 engine, the first time the Exige was offered with a six-cylinder engine. The V6 Cup, a track-focused variant, was never officially sold for street use in the United States.

Parked next to two V12 Lambos with vertical doors, this Lotus didn't get as much love as it deserved. But the few who recognized it knew it was the rarest of the three, at least here in the States. The third-generation Exige was never sold in the U.S. for street use, and even if it were, it's a track-focused car that few would be crazy enough to use in everyday traffic. It's bigger and more powerful than prior Elises and Exiges, but still retains the lightweight, handling-focused philosophy of its predecessors. And having two extra cylinders certainly gives you some more bragging rights. Plus, despite Lotus' history of quality concerns, the tried-and-true Toyota powerplant means parts and service will be reasonably easy to find - something you can't say for a lot of cars that were never sold here!
