Rare Arancio Borealis Lamborghini Gallardo SE
A rare orange (Arancio Borealis) 2006 Lamborghini Gallaro SE arriving at and leaving the RPM Exotic Car Event at Hing Wa Lee Plaza. Introduced in 2005, the SE was the first special edition Gallardo variant and featured a two-tone color scheme with black (Nero Noctis) roof, engine cover, side mirrors, and front and rear bumper accents. It was also equipped with new “Callisto” wheels and a two-tone interior with piping and stitching matching the exterior color. This example is no. 096 of 250 Gallardo SEs built and has been modified with orange wheel accents.
There was a time when a factory option for a two-tone color scheme was a big deal. And there was also a time when the Lamborghini Gallardo wasn't notorious for having a mind-boggling number of variants and special editions. In fact, the SE was the first special edition Gallardo, and the combination of select black body panels and a new wheel design was more than enough to make it stand out from ordinary base models. Like the original Gallardo, the SE has aged quite well, adding a little flair to a design that's edgy and aggressive yet beautifully simple compared to newer Lamborghinis. Personally, I'd do without the added orange wheel accents; the orange brake calipers provide sufficient contrast to the smoked wheels without upsetting the healthy balance of the two-tone bodywork. But hey, this event was over a decade ago, and tastes have certainly changed since then!
On a side note, I'm glad the driver hit the brakes on time while leaving the event and avoided a potentially catastrophic collision. A traffic light was eventually installed at that intersection after way too many close calls.
