Rare Matte Black Aston Martin DBS 770 Ultimate Volante
A rare matte black 2023 Aston Martin DBS 770 Ultimate Volante with yellow accents arriving at and leaving South OC Cars and Coffee at the Outlets at San Clemente. Introduced in 2023 as part of the company’s 110th anniversary celebration, the 770 Ultimate was the final variant of the DBS Superleggera originally introduced in 2018. It is powered by a 5.2-liter twin-turbocharged V12 engine producing 759 hp and 665 lb-ft of torque mated to a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission. The car features revised styling for increased airflow, a full semi-aniline leather and Alcantara interior with standard Sports Plus Seats, and new 21-inch wheels. This example is one of 499 DBS 770 Ultimates (300 coupes and 199 Volantes) built.
It's always nice when automakers create special editions that go beyond colors and plaques and actually feature improved performance and redesigned bodywork. As a sendoff to the DBS Superleggera, the 770 Ultimate is everything you'd expect from the flagship V12 tourer made even better - more power, a better equipped interior, and an enhanced design that improves performance while maintaining looks classy enough for a British secret agent. The name is certainly a mouthful, especially when you add "Volante" for the convertible variant. (I'm glad Aston at least decided to drop "Superleggera" from the special edition model's name.) But let's focus on the car itself rather than stress about nomenclature. Personally, I think this car's design is better suited for a glossy finish. But matte black certainly gives it a more menacing look (fitting for its massive front grille), and the yellow accents are an excellent contrasting touch. The market for expensive front-engined grand tourers has been a shrinking one, but for those who appreciate the fine blend of exquisite luxury, high performance, and classy styling, the 770 Ultimate will certainly be among the most desirable modern Astons.
