Rare Maybach 57 w/ Custom Wheels in Beverly Hills"
A rare grey 2005 Maybach 57 with custom wheels driving in Beverly Hills.
Mercedes-Benz is no stranger to building wild money-is-no-problem dream machines from street-legal open-top CLK GTRs to lifted G-Wagens with six wheels. But this car is a rare example of one that failed to meet the company's expectations. Despite the resurrection of a historically significant brand, the Maybach name was at the time unfamiliar to most people and the car had to compete with Bentley and Rolls-Royce in a league where status was often defined by brand names. It certainly didn't miss the mark when it came to luxury amenities, but it was built on an outdated platform. And while I personally like the understated styling, its close resemblance to the Mercedes S-Class simply didn't give it the unique curb appeal that most buyers in this league wanted. As for the custom wheels on this car, well, they're not particularly bad, but they don't help hide the fact that this is an old and largely unappreciated car that has lost over 80% of its original value. But on the bright side, the Maybach is now an incredible bargain for those who don't care for flashy looks but want to roll in one of the most luxurious production cars ever built.
