The 356 gets a lot of hate for being a glorified Volkswagen, and that's why I find it funny that this one arrived and parked near a massive group of classic VWs. Sure, it may not be able to outperform a modern GT3 RS (or even a modern Corolla...), but to compare numbers would be missing the point. Take a good ol' VW Beetle, complete with its rear-engined layout and simple mechanicals, and give it a lower, sleeker body that resembles the Beetle's unmistakable design but with a much sportier flair, and you have a recipe for lots of fun, especially with the top down. I find the earlier 356s especially beautiful, offering the purest form of the design that ultimately evolved into the modern 911. And given that even classic VWs are now quickly going up in value and being embraced by collectors and enthusiasts, it's no surprise that 356s are easily fetching six-figure prices.
