Red 1964 Iso Rivolta GT Corvette-Powered Italian Tourer

A rare red 1964 Iso Rivolta GT arriving at and leaving Legacy Cars & Coffee at Flight at Tustin Legacy. Introduced at the 1962 Torino Motor Show, the Rivolta was the first luxury grand touring car produced by Iso, which was at the time best known for its motorcycles and microcars. It is powered by a 5.4-liter Chevrolet Corvette 327 V8 engine and features styling by Giorgetto Giugiaro at Bertone and a chassis developed by Giotto Bizzarrini.

The problem with enjoying good conversations at a car meet is that I sometimes miss opportunities to capture very special shots - in this case a good picture of my 'Vette alongside this gorgeous Iso. And that's not only because both cars are red, but also because under the Iso's hood is none other than a Corvette powerplant. Like several other cars of its time, the Iso Rivolta combines the power and reliability of good ol' American muscle with beautiful Italian styling. In other words, you can pull up next to Ferraris and Maseratis at the valet and feel right at home while resting assured that you get to spend more time with your car than your mechanic does. I've seen this car several times at various Orange County events going all the way back to the old Irvine Cars and Coffee days, and it never ceases to get my attention with its incredible balance of muscular sportiness and timeless Italian elegance.
