This was the car that really helped put Lotus on the map as a builder of fun, lightweight sports cars - a philosophy that has continued into modern times with the popular Elise/Exige and the new Emira. I didn't realize how tiny this car was until seeing it merge into traffic with everyday modern cars. Like most performance automakers, Lotus has now been forced to succumb to building larger vehicles and utilizing electric powertrains in order to stay in business, and only time will tell if those changes will result in success. But for the brand's most faithful enthusiasts, it will always be cars like this that make their hearts skip a beat.
