Here in Southern California, the 4x4²'s numerous expensive off-roading features, not unlike the Maybach GLS 600's "Bounce Mode", ultimately serve no purpose other than to make you feel cool and to make others look at you. But still I applaud the folks at Mercedes for actually bringing to production something that nearly any other manufacturer would have either left as a concept or never built at all. And given how many people in Beverly Hills love the idea of a big, luxurious SUV priced in exotic territory with a three-pointed star in front, it's no surprise the truck quickly became a common sight, or at least common enough that many owners felt the need to further differentiate themselves with aftermarket modifications. The Forgiato wheels on this example enhance its Tonka truck-like stance, and the result is almost a bit cartoonish. But for those who choose to parade around Beverly Hills in a $200K matte grey brick-shaped SUV that's too tall to fit inside parking garages, I'm sure the extra attention they receive is greatly appreciated!
