$2.9M 1947 Talbot-Lago Figoni et Falaschi Cabriolet (Best in Show Winner)
A very rare 1947 Talbot-Lago T26 Record Cabriolet with coachwork by Figoni et Falaschi arriving at the 2023 San Marino Motor Classic at Lacy Park, where it won the Best in Show award. This car, currently finished in metallic sky blue over deep midnight blue with cream leather interior, was previously owned by Hollywood director George Sidney and former Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance co-chairman Lorin Tryon. It has won numerous awards including the Elegance in Motion award at the 2003 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, the Best Postwar European Car award at the 2004 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance, and Best of Show awards at the 2013 Boca Raton Concours d'Elegance and the 2023 Arizona Concours d'Elegance. The car was sold at the RM Sotheby's Monterey 2022 auction for $2,975,000.
Let's just take a few minutes to sit in silence and appreciate the beauty of this car, because anything I say about it will certainly ruin the moment - except maybe for the fact that the front grille may have been the inspiration behind the Snapchat ghost.
The French have always led the way when it comes to sensational Art Deco-inspired car design. So when you pair one of the most prominent French luxury carmakers with one of the most distinguished French coachbuilders, the result is an amazing sculpture on wheels - a textbook concours winner. And let's not forget this was during a time when demand for luxury cars was at a historic low. Both Talbot-Lago and Figoni et Falaschi wasted no time getting right back on track with what they do best! With its sleek profile, generous proportions, attractive colors, and beautifully flowing design elements throughout, this car quite literally steals the show even alongside numerous other cars of incredible beauty and significance. I'm so glad the owners, who are from Dallas, decided to bring it here to Southern California, and that they returned home with another well-deserved award.
