1919 Rauch & Lang B36 Electric Car
A rare dark green and black 1919 Rauch & Lang B36 electric car arriving at and leaving the 2024 San Marino Motor Classic at Lacy Park.
The Rauch & Lang brand is one that's probably unfamiliar to all but those who are well-versed in early automotive history. It was one of several prominent American electric car manufacturers in a time when, like today, electric vehicles occupied a significant portion of the automotive landscape. Of course, we all know that over time improvements to the internal combustion engine made other propulsion methods pretty much obsolete. But this car is an excellent reminder that EV technology really isn't as modern as most people today may assume. And it's always interesting to imagine what the world would look like now had the electric car business remained viable and continued to be developed all this time!
