A burgundy 1938 DeSoto Six Series S-5 four-door sedan with tan interior arriving at and leaving the 2023 San Marino Motor Classic at Lacy Park. This car is powered by a 228-ci flathead inline-six engine mated to a three-speed manual transmission.

DeSoto is a name that many car enthusiasts have heard of but few still talk about. And given how similar some DeSoto models were to their alternatively-badged counterparts in the Chrysler portfolio, chances are many people have encountered them at car shows without giving them much extra thought. Honestly, I had no idea what car this was until I saw the lettering in front up close. Sure, it may essentially just be a badge-engineered Chrysler. But after years of seeing dozens of rare classic cars at the San Marino Motor Classic, I have yet to encounter another DeSoto.
