Brand New 2024 Lotus Emira V6 First Edition
A brand new 2024 Lotus Emira V6 First Edition arriving at Cars and Chronos at Hing Wa Lee Plaza. Introduced in July 2021, the Emira is intended to be the British company's last gas-powered car before it transitions to a fully electric lineup. It is powered by a 3.5-liter supercharged Toyota V6 engine producing 400 horsepower. (A 2.0-liter turbocharged Mercedes-AMG four-cylinder engine will also be available.) U.S. customer deliveries began in March 2024 after being delayed due to CARB (California Air Resources Board) certification. This example is finished in Cosmos Black with Diamond Cut Ultra-lightweight V-spoke Forged Alloy wheels. Its owner just received it the night before this event and installed temporary paint protection on the front bumper.
The Lotus Emira has been plagued by several unforeseen production and delivery delays, but now that customers are finally getting their cars, I have a feeling they'll soon be appearing frequently at automotive events since everyone has been dying to drive them. That probably explains why this owner shamelessly plastered his one-day-old car with shipping wrap just to be able to put some miles on it right away. I probably would have done the same. This car looks great from every angle with styling inspired by the multi-million-dollar Evija, and given its potent engine and light weight, it must be a blast to drive too. As with past Lotus models, the Toyota powerplant probably helps with long-term reliability, though several reviews have mentioned that the Emira's build quality is still not quite at the level of its competitors. Only time will tell if this car achieves enough commercial success to help pivot Lotus into a new future-focused era.
