Custom 1992 Suzuki Cappuccino JDM Kei Car
A 1992 Suzuki Cappuccino arriving at and leaving South OC Cars and Coffee at the Outlets at San Clemente. Produced from 1991 to 1998, the Cappuccino was built to meet JDM (Japanese-market) kei car regulations and features removable roof panels allowing it to be configured as a closed coupe, T-top, targa, or full convertible. The 725-kg (1,598-lb) car is powered by a 657-cc turbocharged three-cylinder engine and has a claimed 50/50 weight distribution when both seats are occupied. This imported example has been modified with Volks Racing TE37 wheels and a Spiegel front bumper.
The Japanese knew that while kei class regulations didn't exactly allow for a massively powerful or luxurious car, there was still plenty of room for having fun. And that's what the Cappuccino is all about. Despite its tiny size, it offers four ways to configure its top. And here in the States, the fact that it's a right-hand drive Japanese import only adds to its quirky appeal. As a JDM car, it only makes sense that it gets some aftermarket upgrades. The custom bodywork looks good, although I'm not a fan of the unfinished look of different-colored body panels. But to be fair, it actually wasn't finished; the car was later given more upgrades and was ultimately wrapped in hot pink, giving it an entirely different attitude!
On a side note, I love how the guy taking pictures at around 1:45 completely didn't realize (or didn't care) that the driver was in the middle of backing in to the very space he was blocking.
