Rare $3 Million RUF CTR2 Sport (w/ startup)
A very rare black 1998 Ruf CTR2 Sport starting up and leaving Winter Drive 2018, organized by Purist Group, at Industry Hills Expo Center. Based on the Porsche 993 Turbo, the CTR2 was the successor to Ruf's record-setting CTR "Yellowbird". The Sport model featured wider fenders, upgraded suspension, and a modified 3.6-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six engine producing 580 horsepower. This example was originally commissioned by Frank Beddor, whose sons Steve and David drove CTR2 Sport prototypes in the 1997 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb finishing 2nd and 4th, losing only to a purpose-built lightweight competition car. It was involved in a transporter accident under new ownership and was returned to the Ruf factory in Pfaffenhausen, Germany for repairs during which its current green leather interior was installed. This car is one of one of less than 30 CTR2s built, including 12 Sport models, four of which were equipped with optional all-wheel drive. It was sold in 2019 for $736,500 at the RM Sotheby's Monterey auction. With around 16,600 miles currently on its odometer, it will be offered again at auction during Monterey Car Week 2025 by Broad Arrow Auctions at the Monterey Jet Center, where it is expected to sell for a price of $3,000,000 to $3,500,000.

Rufs with W09- VINs are technically not Porsches, yet they're loved by Porsche enthusiasts and considered some of the most coveted cars in the Porsche community. That's because they not only look like Porsches and utilize Porsche components, but also bring out mind-blowing levels of performance while staying in the spirit of the cars on which they're based. Like many collectible Porsches of this era, the CTR2's design is both aggressive and subtle. It's not particularly loud or flashy, and some may simply dismiss it as just another old 911. But those who know what it is are sure to be amazed. And there are clearly enough people amazed by it to drive its value to stratospheric levels. There aren't many assets that appreciate from $700,000 to over $3 Million in just six years. So if the sale estimate is anywhere near accurate, it looks like the car's current owner is about to earn quite a fortune!
