Rare 1930 Packard 745 Deluxe Eight Letourneur et Marchand Convertible Victoria
A very rare 1930 Packard 745 Deluxe Eight with Convertible Victoria bodywork by French coachbuilder Letourneur et Marchand arriving at and leaving the 2024 Holiday Motor Excursion presented by the Horseless Carriage Club (HCCA) of Southern California. Built on a 145.5-inch wheelbase chassis, Packard's longest available chassis, this car, chassis no. 180344, previously resided in France and Argentina and was brought to the United States by its current owners under whom it received a complete restoration. It was displayed at the 2024 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance and is believed to be the only example of this body style still existing.
It can sometimes be hard to tell apart different cars from this era, but this one certainly stands out with its unique wheels and running boards. Those features make the car appear almost like a custom hot rod, and I'm sure they were well ahead of their time in 1930. This car may be a two-door convertible, but its wheelbase is over 10 inches longer than that of a current-generation Chevrolet Suburban! It was clearly a car built for luxury and excess, and it looks just as amazing now as it did back in the '30s.
